Qualitätswein mit Prädikat

Qualitätswein mit Prädikat is a category in German wine qualification. These wines have to comply with the highest legal requirements concerning their quality. The following requirements have to be met to receive the certification mark:

• The must of the wine cannot contain added sugar.
• Ripeness has to be announced before the grapes are harvested and random samples are conducted.

German wines with Prädikat

• Kabinett,
• Auslese,
• Spätlese,
• Beerenauslese,
• Trockenbeerenauslese and
• ice wine

Wines with a Prädikat cannot be fortified according to German wine laws.
