Pickled cucumbers are small cucumbers or gherkins pickled in a brine or acid solution. They are usually simply called pickles. Pickled cucumbers are found in many cuisines around the world. They probably spread through the Jewish Diaspora. Pickles from the UK or US are usually sweeter than other varieties from Germany, Poland or other European countries.
